While we were practicing in the back of the room I felt nervous and scared. There were a lot of people watching, and I was worried I would mess up. I could hear my family and coaches cheering as the announcer called Democracy Prep Congress Heights, and I knew nothing could stop us. Then the music stopped, and I got very scared. I was about to give up, but I heard Coach Johnson saying 5, 6, 7, 8, and that gave me the boost keep going. When we finished, everyone ran to the bathroom to cry. We weren’t sure if we rocked it or messed up. Coach Johnson came in and told us we did great even though the music stopped. The judges asked us if we wanted to redo the cheer because of the music stopping. Everyone voted yes, and the second time we weren’t scared. With everyone cheering us on we won first place!
