In May, the DREAM team at Democracy Prep Congress Heights hosted “Muffins For Moms,” as a Mother’s Day treat. So, it was a natural idea to host a pre- Father’s Day cookout as a show of appreciation for the dad’s and male figures in their scholar’s lives.

Dad’s and scholars snacked on barbecued burgers and hot dogs, met new friends in the DPCH community, played games of horseshoe, and watched with amusement as their scholars danced to music in the courtyard.

“The event was a hit,” says DPCH registrar, Melissa Winters. “We’re really big on family engagement here, and it was good to see so many people come out to support.”
