We’ve celebrated the hard work and victories of our sports teams all year, but on Friday, June 5th, we spent an afternoon honoring the commitment and dedication of our scholar athletes with a banquet reception.

The scholars exchanged their sneakers for heels and loafers and they worked the red carpet before sitting among their teammates and cheering each other on for the final time this year.

DP Charter High senior, Babacar was recognized for winning the Dave DeBusschere Award from the city, and DP Endurance basketball coach Bryan Harold was recognized as the Coach of the Year.

“I couldn’t make a speech because I felt really emotional,” says Harold who coached the high school girls basketball team.  “We traveled all over the city, through ice and snow, and we were undefeated in the league.”
